Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need a referral before making an appointment?
A referral is not necessary to see me as a private patient, but it is needed under Medicare. You will need a referral to see me if the appointment is part of a Chronic Disease Management (CDM)/Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program. Talk to your doctor first to see if you qualify. If you do, please have your doctor email the referral to contact@isabellehum.com and contact me to book an appointment.
  • What happens after I book my appointment?
You will receive a: Confirmation email with the time, date and fee for your appointment New Client Registration, Privacy and Consent Form to complete and a Telehealth Dietetic Consultation Consent form A reminder email 24 hours before your appointment and option to cancel
  • Do you Bulk Bill?
No, I do not Bulk Bill for appointments as part of a Chronic Disease Management (CDM)/ Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan. There will be an out of pocket fee. Talk to your doctor first to see if you qualify for a CDM/EPC referral. If you do, please have your doctor email the referral to contact@isabellehum.com and contact me to book an appointment.
  • Can I claim the cost of the sessions under my private health insurance?
Most private health funds DO cover dietetic services. Please consult your insurance company for what rebate they will provide, including for telehealth. Do not forget to look for my name in the list of providers (if applicable).
  • What will the initial consultation look like?
The initial assessment will be focused on getting to know you; your current diet and eating patterns, medical conditions (if any), exercise habits, lifestyle patterns and importantly your goals. By the end of your first visit, I will provide you with tailored eating guidelines – depending on your preferences – so you can immediately get started working on your goals.
  • How many review consultations will I need?
It will depend on your goals and how you are progressing. If you are struggling with the nutrition strategies we agreed on, these will need to be re-adjusted in review consultations.
  • How do I pay for the consultation?
Online/Phone consultation: A secured payment link will be emailed to you from Halaxy shortly after our consultation. Just click on the link to pay with credit card (Visa or Mastercard). Otherwise, you can transfer the payment through bank transfer using PayID or BSB and account number.
  • Do you have a cancellation fee?
Not at the moment. If you need to reschedule, that is not a problem. All that I ask is that you give me at least 24 hours notice so that I can make that time available to someone else.
  • Do you have testimonials?
Accredited Practising Dietitians, like many other health professionals, are not allowed to promote themselves using testimonials as it is against our code of conduct and government regulations (considered as a misleading form of advertising). Practitioners who do use testimonials are unregulated, may not keep their knowledge up to date or provide evidence-based practise. Instead, feel free to share your positive feedback with family and friends. Thank you!
